Captain Dennis Butz’s family lived by the mouth of the Fox River, so it’s no surprise that he spent a lifetime on the water. As an avid outdoorsman, Captain Butz loves to hunt, fish, and guide. His grandpa put a fishing rod in his hand, and he was hooked. Dennis always looked forward to fishing with his grandpa, and later in life, with his dad. He passed on the fishing tradition to his daughter. Captain Butz has over 40 years of fishing experience on the Fox River, Bay of Green Bay and Lake Winnebago.
Experienced Pro Walleye Angler
Ultimately, sport fishing transitioned into walleye tournament fishing. Captain Butz is a pro walleye angler with 30 years of tournament fishing experience. On the Masters Walleye Circuit, he learned everything related to fishing – boats, motors, electronics, bait, fishing techniques, bodies of water, winds, and weather. Butz Guide Service is fully insured and licensed. Additionally, Captain Butz is a Certified Coast Guard Captain trained in First Aid and CPR.

He enjoys sharing this knowledge with anglers on guide trips to the Fox River, Green Bay, and Lake Winnebago. As a professional fisherman, he knows how to catch fish, especially walleye. He teaches anglers techniques to take back to their home lakes where they can catch fish themselves. Trophy walleye, eating size, or just-for-fun fishing, walleye guide Captain Butz makes outings memorable. Captain Butz has been a walleye fishing guide since 2011.
